Born in Trois- Rivieres, Normand Boisvert is a primarily self taught artist. Norman has been creating works of art, showing in exhibitions and teaching painting for over 30 years. His love for the Quebec landscape is evident in his work. Norman’s style typically involves swirls of colour and texture in his brushstrokes, which tend to evoke a warm emotional response. The movements of his strokes attempt to echo the movements that he sees in the landscape – flowing rivers, rolling hills, light bouncing off a lake. The laden texture of his work transforms the flat surface into an almost sculpture like depiction making his work pop.
His work is represented in several galleries in Canada, the United States and Europe and can be found in several private and public collections, including the Royal Currency Collection of Canada and museum Pierre Boucher of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
