Julia Veenstra is a Canadian artist living in Hamilton, Ontario. She is an impressionistic representational, lively artist who’s works can be found in collections around the world.
Julia’s medium of choice is acrylic as she enjoys the immediacy and the bright colours. Her work reflects her surroundings, and translates how she sees the world. In particular, her work translates what Julia describes as “special moments” that can transport her to an understanding of wholeness and peace.
Julia works with vibrant colours and expressive strokes, exploring shape and form as well as the desire to portray light. Julia creates unique shapes, colour schemes and details as she paints, and her works are often described as “lively” as a result. They are also typically the result of Julia’s experimentation with a range of tools that create variety of textures The canvases she works with are usually large – a range between 60×30 and 48×48. Ultimatley, Juila’s work strives to interest people by giving off a feeling of energy and joy as they are viewed.
