Jocelyn Blouin was born in Ottawa in 1959. While he was very young, his family returned to live in Quebec City, where he still resides. After completing a degree in Anthropology at Laval University in 1982 in Quebec, he became a commercial air conditioning technician. He will practice this profession for many years, while working very actively on his career as a painter. Since 2015, painting has finally occupied him full-time.
A self-taught painter, he exhibited his paintings for the first time at Laval University in Quebec in 1981. His second exhibition waited for nearly twenty years, when he caught the attention of an art critic of the newspaper “Le Soleil” in 1999, which increased his confidence about the value of his work. Since then, his works can be found in several art galleries.
In 2007, he won a prize at the “Concours d’oeuvres d’art de la ville de Quebec 2006-2007” as a professional artist. In 2015, he won the “Recognition Prize”, which highlights the quality of his artistic statement, at the L’Eveil en Arts symposium. In 2011 and 2018, he won the “Public Vote” award at the permanent painters exhibition at L’Espace Contemporain de Quebec.
