Hugh Thompson

Born in Armagh Ireland, Hugh studied Fine Art privately under Amanda Traversari in Belfast and has been painting for over 35 years. Hugh is known for his sketches and water colours he creates in feld, as well as his larger oil painting works he creates in studio. His paintings are typically done in a Classic / Impressionist style.

A prolifc artist, Hugh produces exhibition numbers of a given subject. Hugh paints the land and sky in Ireland, Canada, America and Europe, enjoying the Great Salon style of exhibition.

A member of Te Arts and Letters Club, Toronto, Te Royal Dublin Society, Dublin Ireland; he is also an adjunct Professor at Te School of Architecture, University of Waterloo, where he teaches classes on Drawing for the architectural student. Hugh is President of Cambridge Towel, a design and colour driven home furnishings company operating in Canada and around the world.

Hugh exhibits at Te Oriel gallery, Dublin Ireland and Te Libby Gallery, Toronto. He also exhibits recent works once a year at a local venue. Hugh lives in Cambridge where, along with Deirdre and Jason Thompson, they own and operate Thompson Centre for Art and Design.
